Manchester City were denied an 11th straight Premier League win at Arsenal this lunchtime as they were held to a point at the Emirates.

City went into this one eight points clear at the top of the Premier League, knowing victory at Arsenal would see them put more daylight between at least one of chasers Chelsea and Liverpool, who play each other on Sunday.

Pep Guardiola was without Phil Foden and Aleks Zinchenko, as well as John Stones, but Kyle Walker and Rodri returned. Joao Cancelo started despite being assaulted during the week.

Arsenal took a deserved lead in the first half as City were sloppy as Bukayo Saka finished well. City looked beaten until Granit Xhaka conceded a foolish penalty, given by VAR and converted by Riyad Mahrez. Gabriel got a quickfire red card either side of a fine Nathan Ake goalline clearance to give City control, and they needed until the 93rd minute to secure a huge three points as Rodri poked home.
