EKITI GUBER: WHAT SETS SEGUN ONI APART FROM OTHERS

Trumpet: Kindly introduce yourself to our readers?

Ezeali: I am Ezeali Ndubueze Jonas Udeji Ogbuzuru, Ovia Inyinya Igurube Okodo na Nenwe. Ezeogbunaechendo na Ibagwa Nike. Ebube Ndi Igbo na Eri Kingdom. Onowu, Akajiofor Ndi Igbo South Africa.

Trumpet: Can you tell us about the responsibilities attached to this esteem title?

Ezeali: As the Head of Igbo Culture and Traditions in South Africa, part of my responsibilities amongst others, include: to uphold, teach and promote, protect and defend Igbo culture and traditions rooted in key-Igbo values and principles.

Trumpet: How do you cope with these responsibilities, family and business.

Ezeali: I cope through effective time management.

Trumpet: Are you into politics?

Ezeali: Every human being is in politics either from family, workplace, organization/association, local, and up to national or international levels of politics. Though I hold BAHons degree in Public Management and Governance, a BoT member of PDP-SA, am not yet in “active politics”. In any case, I have always been interested in who governs me and how am being governed.

Trumpet: With the present situation in Nigeria especially on the issue of insecurity, agitation of seccession by various groups etc what do you think is the way forward for our dear country?

Ezeali: In Nigeria, different nations with different ways of life and belief system were forcefully brought together to form a country, without their consent and modalities and conditions on how they could stay together.
It then becomes imperative that power needs to be devolved to grant autonomy to different regions in Nigeria to govern their selves and the rights to determine and manage their own affairs.
This will enable each region to plan and set a vision for their economic growth and development taken into account the available human and natural resources in their disposal, as well as welfare, safety and security of their people and region.
A true federal state for Nigeria will create healthy cooperation and competition amongst all the federating units, and as a consequence, stimulate a rapid economic growth and development.

Trumpet: Its a common knowledge what foreigners are going through in South Africa, the anti foreigners aggression from organisations like DUDULA etc any effort from your side for the comfort of Nigerians in South Africa

Ezeali: On the 2nd of April 2022, The Supreme Eze-in-Council South Africa (which I lead as the head of Igbo Culture and traditions in South Africa), invited to our Palace, during our annual Igu-Aro Ndi Igbo South Africa, a panel of Nigerian Lawyers and Advocates practicing in South Africa to come and address Nigerians on the Burden and Quandary posed on African migrants by “Operation Dudula” .
The panel was led by Advocate Rufus Onovo, Attorney (Chief) Jeff Azubuike and Attorney Emmanuel Onyemepu.

The panel enjoined Nigerians to remain peaceful and law abiding both in their residences and work places, and wait for the South African state authorities to handle the Dudula situation amicably.

Trumpet: Can your Excellency tell us how you relax.

Ezeali: I relax with my wife and children.

Trumpet: Words of advice for the Ibo community in South Africa and Nigerians generally

Ezeali: Igbos, and Nigerians are known to be hardworking and talented traders and entrepreneurs.
I salute all Igbos and Nigerians in South Africa who are making us proud in their various endeavors. From our business men and women who create employments for Health professionals who work tirelessly to save lives across all the provinces of South Africa, as well as our teachers and lecturers who have been training and developing South Africans in different fields of human endeavours.

To the very few among us who are unemployed.
Do not be tempted to indulge in criminal activities in South Africa.
You can achieve more when you engage in legitimate businesses.
Humble yourselves and learn from your brothers and sisters who are humbly, genuinely and honestly earning their living through hard work.

Trumpet: Kindly say something about trumpet international magazine

Ezeali: To Trumpet Magazine, many have started and discontinued. Please, be different from them. We want you to succeed. We want you to be our voice.
In all, may God be with you.
