South Africa’s senior women’s footbal team, Banyana Banyana are the new champions of Africa!

The Desiree Ellis’ girls defeated the host, Morocco 2-1 in the finals of the 2022 Africa Women’s Africa Cup of Nations on Saturday at the Prince Moulay Al-Hassan Stadium, Rabat.

Sejong Sportstoto striker, Hildah Magaia scored both goals for the South Africans. She opened the scoring in the 63rd minute after the first half ended in a barren draw, before completing her brace 8 minutes later.

Rosella Ayane reduced the deficit by one goal for the Moroccans in the 80th minute but it was Southern Africans who took the trophy as the hosts were unable to level up before stoppage time.

Banyana Banyana become the first the first national team to win the Women’s Afcon other Nigeria and Equatorial Guinea.
