Living the American dream: A look at billionaires Patrice Motsepe’s lavish life cars, mansions and jets
He is that favourite South African billionaire we all love to hate, bringing Messi to South Africa to better the lives of citizens back home.
Patrice Motsepe is the darling of Mzansi. However, despite making all sorts of headlines with his charitable works, he has managed to live large with his wealth. He might not show it, but he lives the American dream capped with bling.
Patrice Motsepe’s academic qualifications
Despite learning a lot from his father regarding business education, Mostepe went on to further his studies in South Africa’s top universities. He holds a Law Degree from Witwatersrand, majoring in business law. The celebrated mining mogul also holds a Bachelor Of Arts Degree from the University Of Swaziland.
Business Empire and streams of income
He is a jack of all trades and a master of all. Patrice Mostepe went down in the history books when he became the first black man to own a mine in South Africa. He happens to be the owner of Rainbow Minerals.
In 2012 he was named South Africa’s wealthiest man. However, as of 2021, according to Statista, he was the third richest in South Africa with an estimated net worth of $2.9 billion, which amounts to R42.4 billion.

R69 million Cape Town mansion
Despite owning several mansions worldwide, Motsepe and Cape Town mansions seem to be his favourite. He owns an R69 million mansion in Cape Town. The million-rand mansion which boasts with the state of the art architecture and modern designer interiors, was bought in 2014 but has gone through several renovations.
A year later, he capped himself land for development worth R30 million in one of Cape Town’s property hot spots. Reports have it that he has since built a multi-million rand villa.

Cars worth millions
He has a million rand fleet. However, he has several exotic cars which are not disclosed to the public. Amongst his famous collection are a 2007 BMW 750 iL, Mercedes Benz S65 AMG, a Bentley Continental GT and the BMW 760 Li. Collectively those cars cost over R12 million.

Private Jets
To cap his billionaires status, he owns a Hawker 4000 with a price tag of over $20 million, according to Buzz South Africa. According to confirmed reports, he once shared the plane with rapper 50 cents.

Media personality Bonang Matheba took the Miss South Africa Top 10 pageant for a celebratory dinner. All of the finalists were wearing the same outfit as per the pageant’s rules. Bonang was wearing a gorgeous Rich Mnisi dress worth R17,000. Previously the influencer Sarah Langa was wearing the dress too as she is very close with the designer.
All the ladies had something to celebrate. Being in the top ten means, you are one step closer to winning. Bonang’s famous and successful champagne brand House of BNG, is partnering with Miss SA again. For the fourth year in a row House of BNG is the celebratory partner of Miss South Africa.
As the host of the lovely dinner, Bonang wished the ladies well in their future endeavours. She also called them the most beautiful women in the world. Of course, the finalists couldn’t be at the dinner and not receive goody bags. Bonang packed the bags with some champagne and other girly products.

One of the finalists will be crowned Miss South Africa this year and take over Lalela Mswanwe. Already South Africans have their favourites they would like to win. Mzansi needs to remember that the ladies will also be judged based on their answers.
Toast to the future
Being Miss South Africa opens up so many doors for the winner. If we look at the previous winners, they are still relevant, and their names open doors for them. Liesl Lauri, for instance, won in 2015, but she is a judge for the pageant this year. All of them toasted to the future as only beautiful things can come from it now.
