DStv has released its fee increases for 2022, with nominal adjustments on certain SA subscription packages. From April 1, 2022 the following increases apply:

• Premium subscribers will pay 1.21% more per month (R10 )
• Compact Plus (+1.86% or R10)
• Compact (+4.89% or R20)
• Family (+4.75% or R14)
• DStv Access (+4.35% or R5).

Pricing for Easyview, Showmax, Add Movies and BoxOffice remains unchanged.

“At 2.7% the weighted adjustment across all of DStv’s offerings for 2022 is significantly lower than the projected CPI for the year,” it adds.

It says the adjustments follow a period of increased value offerings in the form of local and international general entertainment and sports content, DStv Internet, and Rewards and that it has absorbed much of the increase of the cost of doing business in order to implement minimal adjustments.

In November MultiChoice reported that it had 12.2 million 90-day active (subscriber) households in the rest of Africa and 8.9 million in South Africa. The platform’s subscriber growth rates in South Africa have been subdued, increasing just 2% from 2020 to 2021.
