There were emotional scenes on Wednesday night, June 1 after Ukraine beat Scotland 3-1 in a Qatar 2022 World Cup qualifier despite it being their first match played since Russia began its invasion on February 24.

Fans of both countries held up Ukraine flags throughout their national anthem in a show of solidarity with the nation amid the ongoing invasion by Russia.

The match was initially supposed to be played in March, but had to be delayed because of the ongoing war.
