JOHANNESBURG – They’ve promised to push out migrants in Johannesburg’s Alexandra township, but it appears the police have managed to keep the peace and shops open and quell any threat of a “shutdown” in the area.
A group called the “Alex Dudula Movement”, which is apparently not affiliated to “Operation Dudula”, is said to be behind attacks on several foreign-owned shops.

This group accuses migrants of causing crime in Alexandra.
Migrants, meanwhile, are pleading for the authorities to intervene.
One of the organisers in the “Alex Dudula Movement”, Agnes Malatjie, denies they instigated any violence.
