Carson Pickett is making history as the first player ever to compete for the United States women’s team despite having a limb difference.

The 28-year-old defender was born without a portion of her left arm.

Pickett, a North Carolina Courage club player, recently made her 100th NWSL (National Women’s Soccer League) appearance and was named to the league’s best XI for June.

She described her international debut on Tuesday as a “dream come true.”

Pickett played the entire 90 minutes at left-back in a 2-0 friendly victory over Columbia at Rio Tinto Stadium.

Manuela Vanegas’ own goal put them ahead before Kelley O’Hara scored in the 77th minute to extend the US’s impressive unbeaten streak at home to 69 games.

It was the second of two games against Colombia as both teams prepare for World Cup qualifying in July.

Pickett went viral in 2019 after she was photographed giving an arm-bump to a young fan who was also missing part of his left arm.
