Rashid Bawa, Ghana’s high commissioner to Nigeria, is dead.
He was reported to have died in Abuja, Nigeria’s capital city, on Thursday.
Bawa was appointed high commissioner to Nigeria in 2017 by President Nana Akufo-Addo.
A Ghanaian politician, diplomat and a member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Bawa was Ghana’s ambassador to Saudi Arabia between 2005 and 2008.

He was a member of the Ghanaian parliament for Akan constituency from 2001 to January 2005 as an independent candidate.
Bawa’s death comes days after the passing of John Kumah, Ghana’s deputy minister for finance and member of parliament for Ejisu constituency.
Akufo-Addo had described Kumah as a politician who served the country with “great enthusiasm and devotion”.
