Man Utd insist Mason Greenwood won’t play again until further notice as they release fresh statement after new arrest
MANCHESTER United have been forced to issue a fresh statement after Mason Greenwood spent his third night in jail.
The striker, 20, was re-arrested on suspicion of sexual assault and threats to kill yesterday after cops initially swooped on Sunday.
Greenwood was arrested by officers in Manchester on suspicion of rape and GBH, and was last night being quizzed over the fresh allegations.
Manchester United suspended the player indefinitely following his arrest, and released an updated statement after his re-arrest.
A spokesman for the club said: “Manchester United reiterates its strong condemnation of violence of any kind.
“As previously communicated, Mason Greenwood will not train with, or play for, the club until further notice.”
A Greater Manchester Police spokesman confirmed the force were granted more time to quiz the £75,000-a-week footballer.
