Hafsat Lamido Sanusi, the daughter of the former Emir of Kano, Lamido Sanusi, is preparing to tie the knot with Othman El-Kudan, following her divorce.
The wedding ceremony is scheduled for this Friday and will be held at the Emir of Zazzau’s Palace in Zaria, Kaduna State.
Hafsat, who holds a law degree, was previously married to Abubakar Kurfi. They exchanged vows in Kano on December 20, 2016, in a grand celebration attended by notable figures. The festivities spanned seven days and included traditional ceremonies like Kamu (Kamun Amariya), a ‘Catch the bride ceremony’ at the former emir’s residence, a henna party called Kunshi, a bridal shower, a dinner, and an impressive horse ride from Kano to Katsina, culminating in the Walimat Nikkai.
From their marriage, Hafsat and Abubakar welcomed a daughter into their lives.
Following her divorce, Hafsat pursued further education and successfully attained a master’s degree in law from the School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS) at the University of London.
The groom, it was learnt, was previously married to Kannywood actress Rahman Hassan.
El-Kudan is a former political adviser to ex-President Goodluck Jonathan and also a Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chieftain.
Former Vice President Namadi Sambo will stand as the groom’s father at the low-key wedding while the Emir of Zazzau, Ahmed Bammali, will stand as the bride’s father.
